Seattle/VN

So it snowed in Seattle when I was there!

Well, it was definitely a rare occasion having snow AND having it stick!

Don't these shots make it seem like I was in the country side or something?? I was just in the suburbs, but there are places around us that still have barns and shit.

Anyway, I played in a the snow a bit and got sick. I just get really tired and am really stuffy. Ugh.

On the way to Vietnam!

I won't go over the flight, but I will say that I really enjoyed Korean Air. Oh, and I watched the following movies: Must Love Dogs (Nina, you should see it!), The Island (talk about weird), Mr. and Mrs. Smith (which was okay). I watched part of the Dukes of Hazzard, but it just wasn't for me.

So my mom's place is pretty cool! I have my own room and quickly made myself at home by putting my stuff in the closets, books on the bookshelves, etc. I've really missed having my own space, that's for sure.

I get up early here. I was playing with Emmie last night in my room but I couldn't keep my eyes from closing. So I went to bed at 9 and got up at 6. Weird, eh? I played tennis at 8 for an hour, which was awesome. My mom got me lessons. That's always cool b/c you get fed tennis balls constantly so it's much easier to work on your swing. We also had a ball boy, too. That was awesome.

My mom has some people working for her, so they ask us what we'd like to eat, they buy the food and prepare the meal and set the table... for 3 meals a day! They also clean the dishes, too. My mom gets up in the morning and her bed is made while she's washing up in the bathroom!! It's nuts. I can totally see why she loves it here so much. It's like she's already retired!

My mom and I went to look for dresses for us to wear to this ball we're going to on Saturday. My mom found a dress she liked. The people said that they can make it in a different color and make minor adjustments to it, too. They measured her and the tailored made dress will be ready on Saturday morning! Now THAT'S service!

On the way home from tennis today, my mom and I stopped by a bakery where we bought 3 traditional vietnamese pastries for 20 cents each!

So far, I'm having fun here and am definitely enjoying it. :)

This isn't that bad of traffic, either!

When my mom was a kid in VN, she used to follow her cat on the rooftops. I would, too!

it must be such an experience going from where there is so much space to live and the folks have barn houses in the burbs with SNOW and then to go to such a populated noisy area in the tropics. wowza lisa! how freakin awesome!

Thanks!

Man, you have no idea, that wasn't even a good picture of her! My mom looks GREAT. I mean, I couldn't help but repeat that to her when I first got here. She's been her for 4 months, she just glows of healthiness, she's fit, she's stressfree and absolutely loving life right now. I've never seen her look this good before. :)

She's just thankful she's not in Paris right now trudging thru the cold and the sea of communiters on the RER and the subway every day.

It's totally a huge difference. I'm definitely not used to the pollution - ugh! I'll have to get a mask for when I go on a bike or scooter soon.

How much didja pay for a bike in China??

the price varied. i went through five i think. all of them except the last were stolen. my last one i got for free from my cleaning lady when she found out i was on my way to buy yet another. i paid 50 u.s for my most expensive one. it was totally top of the line though, very nice. that was the one that i donated into local society by accident because i left my keys in the lock when i went up to class. i learned the trick is to get a bike you like new, nice, whatever, and then make it look like crap. scratch it up and get it all dirty so that nobody wants to steal it. are you going to get a regular bike or a moto/honda? or you know they have those combination bikes with the fly wheels. have you seen those. those did not interest me very much at all. too much money and i really liked riding the regular bike.

Well it seems like bikes here are a little more expensive. I just want a regular bike but my mom keeps looking at more expensive ones.. like right under 100 bucks.

I wanna start riding a bike to learn the traffic rules and such then get a honda/scooter with my tax refund. ;)

About scuffing the bike up, no problem. That's my forte.. ha!
